Difficult days

Hi Everyone,

Your messages are so appreciated. It is difficult to read through them because I cry which is something I do not allow myself much of. It is important for me to keep my spirits up as much as possible because I know Allie looks to me for the positive. When I read the messages, prayers and well wishes I am reminded that Ron and I are not the only people that have been touched by Allie's strength, spirit and most importantly her loving heart.

First the good stuff -- Allie has made it outside in her wheelchair three times. The last time she was pretty relaxed (although the pain in her back when she sits is very distracting) she enjoyed some shade and some sunshine for almost an hour. Unfortunately by the time we got her back to bed her temp was 102.4. Allie's injury makes it difficult for her body to regulate temperature and so even a mildly warm or cold day can be a problem.

The last couple of days have been especially difficult for Allie. She has had some terrible stomach pain and we haven't been able to figure out why. The pain kept her from trying to get in the chair yesterday and kept her up all night. She is as down as I have seen her.

She continues to communicate without the advantage of speaking. She is doing well in her swallow therapy which still consists of swallowing very small ice chips once a day.

The highlight of Allie's days are when her friends come to visit. Sometimes she isn't up for it and feels bad that they've "come so far" and she isn't up for the company. I assure her that she is much loved and that they don't mind.

Thank you for your continued support through prayers, visits, cards, well wishes, meals, etc. We are so blessed to live in a community like ours. We are extremely touched to hear about the fund raiser that Stacy of Circle of Friends and others are coordinating.

We are forever grateful!!!!!!!

Allie will recover
Jerry will recover
The valley will see our kids smiling and dancing once again.

Love, Peace & Happiness,
Deborah

  7. Deborah,
We (Jerry's Angels) are more than willing to help with anything you need. We had some great fundraisers for Jerry and would be willing to give any ideas or help we can.

I haven't met Allie personally but know Adam (Colleen is our daughter) and our prayers and thoughts go out for you and your family. I know things are hard right now but the worst is behind you. Stay strong! Let go, allow yourself to cry, it will make room for those happy moments to come. And there will be plenty.

We didn't even know Jerry until the day before his accident (he was camping with us) and I know I have cried many times and still do reading Allie's and Jerry's blog. It is sad that things happen to good people, but God has a plan we just don't know what it is.

  8. Hi Deborah,

Just a thought about the stomach pain:
You or your doctors may have already explored this but just in case here's something to explore. Jerry had stomach pain and other pain, in his hands and back. Jerry had a hard time describing what he was feeling but when the doctors finally got to the bottom of it, it turned out to be nerve pain. The neurological impulses go a little haywire with an injury like this. Jerry had to go on a drug called Neurontin which really helped him deal with the strange pains he was having. He had strange feelings like his stomach was burning, his fingernails were being bent backward, he felt like when he breathed his lungs were hitting other organs, he felt like the inside of his stomach was sticky. All these wierd uncomfortable feelings went away after he started taking neurontin. We've tried to wean off the drug however the symptoms return so for now he needs to stay on it. Just a thought maybe Allie is experiencing nerve pain.

    Continuing to pray for Allie...

Allie is an incredbile lively girl and know that she will make the best of this. I am constantly thinking of you, Allie, Adam, Anjel, and Ron and how you're all able to cope-you're truly an amazing mom and Allie is lucky to have you in her life. Love you all! Sabrina

  12. Valley Mom here,
Just sending some incredible hope and prayers your way today.
May Allie and all of your family be lifted by the spirit of the Lord and that the burden of this pain, both physical and emotional, subside and the peace and warmth of His love overtake every inch of your being.
By the way, Luke has been playing on a coed intermural soccer team at Cal Poly. He came home for Mother's Day last week with bruises all over his legs. When I asked him how he got them he replied "the girls."
Allie, I'm praying you will get the pleasure of cleating a boy on the soccer field soon.
    Love,
Another Valley Mom who loves you and is looking forward to the fundraiser. GOD BLESS

  18. Adam and I were brought into this world on the same day, October 29th, and ever since elementary we have been best friends. The Pomianowski became my second family and I grew to love each member of the family being there everyday and our parents sharing common interests. I have so much love for the entire family and my prayers are with you all. Im here for you guys 100% and I think i speak for my entire family when I say we all love you. Allie is one of the strongest girls I have ever met and just like she would beat up adam, me and other friends, she will fight thru this.

Your in my prayers and all my positive vibes and thoughts are headed your way.
    Stay Strong Pomianowski Family.
    Much Love,
